The Investment Case

The investment case depends on customer adoption translating into durable free cash flow per share.

The current price does not require exceptional long-term growth. The thesis still depends on customer gains translating into stable spending and durable free cash flow.

Why this could work

Why the market may be right

Why this could work

Operating leverage is visible now

In 2025, revenue rose 28.6%, while gross profit grew about 39% and Adjusted EBITDA grew about 75%.

Why the market may be right

Customer growth is outrunning revenue

TTM active Performance TV customers grew about 40% in Q2 2026 while quarterly revenue grew about 21%.

Why this could work

A large net-cash balance limits financing risk

At June 30, 2026, MNTN held $237.3M of cash and no debt.

Why the market may be right

The revenue model is not subscription SaaS

Advertisers can adjust budgets quickly, making results sensitive to advertising cycles and campaign performance.

Why this could work

The price embeds modest cash-flow growth

Under the stated reverse-DCF assumptions, the report-date EV reconciles at about 4.4% five-year FCF growth.

Why the market may be right

Per-share economics still need proof

SBC, options, and repurchases must be evaluated together; headline buyback authorization is not automatic accretion.

02

How the Business Works

MNTN turns connected-TV advertising into a measurable performance-marketing channel.

MNTN is a performance TV software company that helps brands run connected-TV campaigns with the targeting, measurement, and optimization expected from search and social advertising.

Its self-serve Performance TV platform lets marketers define a budget, audience, campaign duration, and return-on-ad-spend goal. MNTN then accesses CTV inventory through TV networks and supply-side platforms, delivers ads, attributes views to purchases or other actions, and continuously optimizes the campaign.

MNTN primarily earns usage-based fees tied to customer ad spend, net of amounts paid to advertising-inventory suppliers. Revenue therefore grows when MNTN adds advertisers and when existing advertisers spend more; because budgets can change quickly, the model has more campaign and advertising-cycle sensitivity than subscription SaaS.

1

Advertiser

2

Inventory and delivery

MNTN accesses CTV inventory through TV networks and SSPs, then delivers ads to selected households.

3

Attribution and optimization

The platform links ad views to purchases or other actions and continuously optimizes toward the target ROAS.

4

Usage-based revenue

MNTN earns fees tied to ad spend, net of supplier payments; growth comes from more customers and more spend per customer.

Why margins can scale

Automated delivery and measurement can support software-like gross margins, but revenue still depends on variable advertising spend.

03

The KPI That Matters

Customer growth is strong, but revenue has not kept pace.

Key KPI

Spend per customer

Revenue ≈ active customers × spend per customer

TTM active Performance TV customers increased from 1,746 in Q2 2024 to 4,225 in Q2 2026. That is a clear adoption win. Yet revenue has grown much more slowly than the customer base, making monetization—not acquisition—the key debate.

04

Financial Profile

Revenue growth is useful only if it converts into durable cash flow.

Revenue rose from $176.3M in 2023 to $290.1M in 2025, while 2025 gross margin reached 77.2%. Q2 2026 gross margin was about 80%—a quarterly actual, not a full-year 2026 margin. The evidence points to meaningful operating leverage, but the 2026 full-year figures below are Lazy Valuation estimates.

Quality of Earnings & Capital Allocation

Adjusted EBITDA helps measure operating progress, but cash flow and dilution determine what reaches shareholders.

During H1 2026, MNTN generated $34.0M of operating cash flow and capitalized $7.0M of internal-use software. A simple FCF proxy is therefore about $27.0M. The same period included $12.6M of stock-based compensation.

The buyback only matters after dilution

The board authorized up to $100M, but there is no minimum purchase obligation. At June 30, 2026, 10.05M options were outstanding. The right scorecard is repurchases minus SBC and option exercises—not authorization divided by market cap.

The Model

The model sets out the assumptions that drive revenue and free cash flow, together with the evidence behind them.

The model assumes MNTN grows faster than the 11% CTV market forecast through customer acquisition and share gains. It does not copy a long-term company target: growth fades from 21% to 17% as scale increases, while the monetization gap remains the main risk.

Reverse-DCF disclaimer

The 4.4% figure is the growth rate that reconciles the model to the report-date enterprise value under the stated starting FCF, WACC, and terminal-growth assumptions. It is not what every investor literally believes, and it changes when those inputs change.

The starting $58M of 2026E FCF is itself an LV estimate. If that starting point misses, the apparent expectations gap narrows.

08

Valuation

The valuation uses a reconciled DCF and three scenarios, expressing uncertainty as a range rather than a single target.

The source research combines DCF with three relative-value methods. This page retains only DCF because its forecast and terminal periods can be reconciled; the relative-method outputs are omitted rather than presented with ambiguous denominators. The supplied Bear, Base, and Bull composites remain visible in the range rail and scenario map.

Scenario Map & Thesis Breakers

Each scenario connects an operating outcome to a valuation range and clear signals for reassessment.

Bear$9–14

Two or more thesis breakers turn red.
Base$17–21

MNTN becomes a profitable growth platform.

Customer growth remains healthy, spend per customer stabilizes, revenue growth fades gradually from 21% to 17%, and FCF margin reaches 21%.

Bull$23–30

MNTN develops into a high-quality compounder.

Customer growth stays strong, spend per customer recovers, FCF margins beat the Base path, and repurchases exceed dilution.

Confirmation
Spend per customer turns positive and diluted shares decline.

Thesis breakers

Two or more persistent red flags trigger a model reset—not an automatic lower-price buy.

  • Organic revenue growth stays below 15% for two quarters.
  • Active-customer growth falls below 15%.
  • Spend per customer deteriorates beyond -3% without stabilization.
  • Gross margin falls below 75%.
  • FCF margin falls below 12%.
  • SBC remains above 10% of revenue or diluted share count rises despite repurchases.

The most valuable new evidence would be customer growth above 20%, a narrowing monetization gap, sustained gross margin, expanding FCF margin, and controlled diluted share count.

11

Bottom Line

At the report-date price of $11.21, MNTN did not appear to require aggressive long-term cash-flow growth.

Under the model’s assumptions, the report-date enterprise value could be reconciled with roughly ~4.4% annual FCF growth, while the Base Case assumed a much stronger path. That gap is interesting only if the starting FCF estimate holds and customer monetization stabilizes.

A low multiple alone does not make MNTN attractive. The question is whether the current price is too conservative about its long-term monetization potential.

The valuation depends on customer growth converting into revenue and cash flow.
